Self Image

Self-Image is a powerful force in life and it can make or break your life by the ways in which you see yourself.  On one hand, it could be a positive and beautiful thing that guides your life in a wonderful way because of the way you think about yourself it determines your life and its outcome.  On the flip side when you have a low self-worth and image of yourself if it can cause you pain, disruption, confusion and not a very fulfilling life because your focus is o what people see and think and not how you truly feel about yourself.  When we feel poorly about our image and our self-esteem is low then we are not living our best life.

If you could project an image of yourself like they did in the movie the Matrix what would you look like?  That same concept of seeing yourself in the mirror of how you want to see yourself is what you need to imprint in your mind.  It really doesn’t matter what others think and see, it’s how you see yourself.  So, my suggestions are mirror exercises.  This was a key element for me developing a strong image and building my self-confidence.  I was very critical of myself and had very low self-esteem for two reasons.  I quit smoking cigarettes in 1994 I had been smoking since I was 13 years old.  I was always thin and well proportioned as soon as I stopped I immediately gained 50 pounds in which seemed overnight although it was over a 6-month period.  Food became my next addiction.  Then several years later I lost my hair due to Androgenetic Alopecia which left me riddled with depression and no self-worth.  For many years I walked around appearing to the world to be okay but really, I was a mess inside and it begins to show on the outside.

The mirror technique was crucial in bringing back my dignity.  It will seem strange at first and will even appear silly, you will feel uncomfortable because at first, you won’t believe anything your saying.  But just keep doing it every morning and every night.  Visualize yourself as you sleep as the person you want to be and say your affirmations until you start to believe them yourself and it sinks deep into your subconscious mind and watch the change that takes place.  I promise you it works.

Here are a few affirmations that I use but you can make your own up it’s all about how you want to see and feel about yourself.

  1. I am beautiful
  2. I am loved
  3. I am happy
  4. Today is my day
  5. I am strong
  6. I am ready to accept my dreams as reality
  7. I am confident in my abilities
  8. I am amazing
  9. I am a great person with a loving heart
  10. I choose happiness and abundance in my life
  11. I am enough
  12. I excel in everything I do
  13. I attract people and resources I need today.

Add to them, change them or simply make your own list.  The point is to get in the mirror and say them twice a day morning and prior to going to bed.  If you commit to doing this and really be open to receive the things you affirm then expect great things to happen.
